It is his belief and encouragement that made me realized I wanted to preserve my heritage. Growing up we would visit my aunts on the weekends, who had the "best" smelling kitchens and always a homemade dessert. It is these very aunts that taught me to bake during school holidays & vacations. As I got older, I missed my families' desserts and began to bake weekly when my daughter became school age.
Pam's Snacks was created I chose my father as my logo because he is the foundation of my beliefs, morals and values. He grew up in the deep South where I spent my childhood summers. Needless to say, there were no corner stores and you could only eat what was served. Because I was able to experience "farm to table" at such an early age I learned to bake my 1st cake in the 1960's.
My Aunt Doll (my paternal great aunt), taught me how to bake as a child in the early 1970s. It wasn't until I moved to Arizona that my passion for baking grew. I missed my families' homemade sweets and began baking my own Sunday desserts. After dinner on Sundays I would share a slice of cake or pie with my neighbors, and on Mondays I would proudly drop off my leftovers in the lunch room. Not before long, the compliments poured in, and shortly thereafter people would ask how much I would charge to make a dessert for them. In the beginning, I wasn't confident. I would say, oh...I will make (give) you a cake or pie for your birthday - thinking I was killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Needless to say, it did not work, and because there was a "demand" for my baked goods - Pam's Snacks was born.
